Dan Bigbee, Jr.
Dan
is Comanche Indian from Oklahoma. He
is Producer, Director, Senior Editor, Videographer, Writer and Engineer for the
company. Dan spent four years as a
young boy in Ethiopia, where his father taught at the University at Alemaya.
Upon returning to the US he finished junior high in Maryland and was
accepted at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM.
Dan went on to received his AA in Fine Arts from Bacone College in Muskogee,
Oklahoma. He has additional
training from the U. S. Naval School of Photography and has worked for many years
in and around various media including: television,
radio and video. Prior
to establishing BIG Productions Dan worked for several institutes of higher
education, including Cameron University, Lawton, Oklahoma; Oklahoma State
University; the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Kearney State College,
Kearney, Nebraska. He served these
institutions in many capacities from engineering to production crew. Lily Shangreaux Lily
(Oglala Lakota) was born
and raised on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. She was one of
the first women admitted as freshmen, in 1970, to Princeton University.
Lily graduated with a BA in Psychology. Lily
began her video career in 1993, when she and Dan Bigbee founded BIG Productions.
Since the founding of the company Lily has written, co-produced and
managed most of the company’s projects.
The most recent production is “The Great American Foot Race”, a
one-hour documentary which aired on PBS in 2002. Prior
to establishing the company, Lily worked for the Institute of American Indian
Arts in Santa Fe, NM, as Development Associate.
In this capacity she researched foundation and corporate prospects,
developed proposals including budgets.
Lily assisted with the design of a 5 million dollar capital campaign for
the IAIA Museum and was instrumental in obtaining several large grants toward
this campaign. Daniel Bigbee III Daniel (Winnebago) has been with BIG Productions since he was 8 years old. He began by sweeping the floor and making scrap-paper note pads. Daniel appeared in several of the company's productions, most notably in a PSA for the former New Mexico Repertory Theater with Carol Burnett. When Daniel grew up he was impressed into service hauling equipment. When he graduated from high school he began running Sound for the company. With his avid interest and willingness to learn, Daniel quickly mastered Sound Engineering and also acts as Second Camera. Additionally, he has gained experience as Editor and in Graphics Production. Daniel's expertise is with Boris FX and Title Motion. |
